Abstract: Scientific literature has long broached the topic of whether or not government aid is beneficial for the whole of society, but it does not particularly touch on whether or not government aid is beneficial for those who receive it. And though research has been done overseas, not much has been done pertaining to the effect of the welfare the U.S. government offers its citizens. The answer seems obvious, government welfare would certainly improve the lives of those who receive it. And yet some striking conclusions can be drawn through analyzing the link between welfare and well-being. This paper aims to survey the link between receiving channels of welfare in America and how many days an American spends feeling calm and peaceful.
